Kernel Streaming drivers are supported by all: I haven’t really looked for why yet. On my Vista system I can only get down to samples before clicks and pops. More stability and security should help keep misbehaved drivers and malware from taking down your system.
Now they are back to the 1. YOu can’t expect good result with Traktor and Directsound drivers under Vista.
The latency vistz a function of the driver-supported buffer size, not the operating system. I still think it’s possible. Either way, in relation to a and b above, I think we’ll have these answers in the very near future. One thing is amiss: Windows is designed round a low-level caoewalk called the kernel. I just don’t get it.
But the ASIO drive is substantially improved over the old one, so if that’s something you want to go with, davert will be a great improvement.
